Andrea

Founder

I founded Consult Integrated Solutions because I’ve lived the challenges our communities face. Having personally navigated these systems alongside my professional work, I understand firsthand the barriers facing refugees, asylum seekers, and underrepresented communities.

My Background

I bring 30 years of professional experience spanning children’s services and refugee integration work across Greater Manchester. For the past 10 years, I’ve specialised in refugee housing and integration, working hands-on with refugees experiencing homelessness and supporting them through the critical transition after gaining status.

I have experience working with diverse refugee communities including those from the Middle East, North Africa, and across the African continent, bringing cultural understanding and awareness of the specific barriers different communities face.

I’ve worked in frontline delivery, team management, multi-agency coordination, and training delivery. I know what it takes to implement programmes that actually work in practice, not just on paper. I developed the Paving the Way framework, including MOSS (Move On Support Service) – the housing component that was funded by a Greater Manchester local authority and piloted by the Home Office.

Why I Do This Work

What drives me is seeing the gap between well-intentioned services and what refugees actually need. Organisations often address surface-level barriers like language support, but miss the deeper challenges: racism, discrimination, intersectional factors, trauma, and the reality of rebuilding lives in systems designed to exclude.

My lived experience as the child of Windrush migrants, combined with decades of frontline work with diverse refugee communities from MENA and across the African continent, means I bring cultural depth that transforms how programmes work in practice. I understand the barriers because I’ve lived them – and I know how to build support that actually meets people where they are.

I believe in holistic support – not just housing or services, but the full spectrum of what people need to build good lives: employment, education, health, belonging, and dignity. I care about sustainable change, not quick fixes that fall apart after six months.

How I Work

I don’t deliver reports and disappear. I work hands-on with organisations to implement programmes, train their teams, and build their capacity to deliver sustainable support. I bring practical solutions drawn from lived experience and professional expertise. I work with disadvantaged and overlooked communities, tackling systemic barriers and discrimination head-on. I’m committed to leaving organisations and communities stronger and more capable than I found them, not dependent on external consultants.

The Difference Lived Experience Makes

Refugees tell me that support from people who truly understand their experiences feels different. It’s not just about cultural awareness training – it’s about building programmes where cultural competency, understanding of discrimination, and awareness of intersectional barriers are embedded from the start. This is why I train staff teams while implementing programmes: knowledge must translate into practice, not remain theoretical.

❝ Every project I take on is built on robust evidence, community leadership, and a commitment to sustainable change.❞

I’m based in Manchester but work across the UK, particularly with organisations in dispersal areas where refugee support infrastructure is less established. I go where the need is greatest – supporting local authorities and voluntary organisations in areas newly receiving refugees, building their capacity to deliver culturally informed, trauma-aware support.
